Performance: Daqshekk Gwerrer by Kirsten Platz
Valletta Contemporary, Malta
31 October 2025
Performed as part of MOMENTUM’s 15th Anniversary Program
Curated by Rachel Rits-Volloch & Emilio Rapanà
On 31 October 2025, I was invited to perform Daqshekk Gwerrer, a lament written by Berlin-based artist Kirsten Palz, at Valletta Contemporary. The work forms part of her ongoing series of Song Books, and continues the themes first developed in Nie Wieder Krieg (2022).
As the performing artist, my role was to embody and vocalise the fragmented text, allowing it to unfold through breath, repetition, and physical presence. The performance took place within the opening of Art from Elsewhere: DEEP THROAT, the sixth edition of MOMENTUM’s site-specific travelling exhibition series.
This edition of Art from Elsewhere reframes the MOMENTUM Collection in relation to global urgencies and local Maltese contexts, positioning art as a vital act of resistance, recognition, and attentive witnessing. Bringing together artists from across continents, the exhibition investigates visibility, exposure, and the contemporary spectacle of geopolitical power — themes that resonate strongly through Palz’s Song Book.
